Get to Know Our Employees

At Cardinal we believe we have the most well-trained, experienced professionals that care about the communities they serve. Each month we’ll feature one of our awesome team members in our Employee Spotlight.

Today, get to know James Moye, Director-Human Resources.

How long have you been with Cardinal? Tell us about your role and primary responsibilities.

I’ve been with Cardinal Management for 1 year and 3 months now. My role is Director of HR and that translates to a partner for leadership. I oversee benefits, recruitment, payroll, employee relations, and special projects for the Cardinal Team.

Describe what you feel makes Cardinal an industry leader and a great place to work.

Cardinal has a special combination of elements where you get both the smaller tight-knit environment that cares about its employees and the perks and rewards of a larger organization.  The technology and policies, all bring you that corporate structure that is needed to run a great shop!

Being in a position of leadership, describe how you keep employees motivated and focused on Cardinal’s goals of delivering outstanding service:

Being a Leader at Cardinal started for me by listening!  For the 1st 3 months of my employment, I scheduled as many one on ones as I could with every employee at every level, so I could hear from the ground up, what impact HR could have on the organization and what immediate changes were needed to move us forward.  When employees feel heard, they then respond with better morale and productivity.

Do you have any tips for someone that may be looking to get into the community management industry?  

The best tip I would offer for someone looking to get into Community Management is to take on a mentor with proven leadership in the industry.  I’ve been blessed to join an organization with an extremely well-versed Executive Team that has taken me under their wings and shown me the ins and out of the industry.  HR has many transferable skillsets that will apply to every industry, but not fully understanding the Community Management Industry can delay critical tasks like recruitment because you need to connect with the right community!

Is there one thing the public should know about Cardinal that perhaps they'll never guess?  

The one thing the world should know about Cardinal that they may not guess is that Cardinal advocates for diversity and empowerment!  We look at talent for what skillsets they bring to the table and reward those who display great leadership and the ability to grow.  Anyone and everyone are welcomed to the Cardinal family, as long as you are ready to roll up your sleeves and get the job done!

Fun Fact about you.  

Where to begin, I like to think my life is one big fun fact!  I’m an avid comic book collector and a sports fanatic, but a good video game has always brought me peace of mind!  I have gone skydiving and hot air ballooning, but you won’t catch me doing those fun activities again… nope not a chance!  At the end of the day, I’m about family, friends, and fun!
